Fresh Powder in Telluride

A January 2005 trip to Telluride by Kristen Cherry

Quote: Ride the steeps off the Gold Hill Lift or take the PLUNGE trail for a great, long black diamond run.

Etta Place Too is at the opposite end of town from the box canyon wall. The location was great for skiing; we walked right out the front door and walked 100 yards to Chair 7.

Excelsior offers excellent food and wine selections. The atmosphere was great, and the prices were reasonable. I highly recommend anything on the menu, as I tasted everything my friends were having and EVERYTHING was wonderful!

The Telluride Mountain has no lift lines, and there is great access to the slopes just about anywhere you stay. I bunked down at Etta Place Too through ResortQuest, which was only a few steps away from Chair 7. The prospect bowl area was great, but as a boarder, you have to keep your speed up for the run-outs... Gold Hill had great terrain, which was both steep and deep with powder. My favorite run was the PLUNGE--it seemed to last forever for a black diamond run.
