Imagine yourself driving along one of the most beautiful coasts of the Dominican Republic, the southwest coast, along Carretera Paraiso (Paradise Highway). There are coconut trees and the Atlantic Ocean to your left, and just when you thought it couldn't get better, you see a sign saying PONTEVEDRA, a small entrance to a man-made sanctuary. Walking into the office, you talk to clerk, and within minutes, you’re checked in. The price range is moderate/high, between $75 and $100 per room, but the best part is that up to four(five if you sneak one in) can stay in a room. All the rooms are more like small villas, with full kitchens, a living/dining room, and a huge bedroom with either two double beds or one queen/king-size bed.
It gets better - the price includes lunch and dinner, with is made to order. Out back, you have a huge swimming pool, and of course, the ocean. My 2-day stay at this slice of heaven was great: the management is great, the service is great, and the location is amazing. I happened to go during the low-season in mid-December, so if you're planning to go, be sure to call ahead. It almost impossible to book a room during Semana Santa (Easter break) or the first few weeks of the summer. Overall, my experience at Pontevedra was great. It is highly recommended. Enjoy!
