Good food, accommodations, and easy transport make this one of the easiest places in the Indian Ocean to visit, if you only have a short time. Without a doubt, you must make a trip up to the Maison du Volcan, where you can learn about the volcanos, then take a trip across a Martian-like terrain through the center of a volcanic crater!Quick Tips: Book your flight with a major airline, since Indian Ocean islands have been prone to go bankrupt in the last few years. Thousands of travelers have been stranded. Check visa requirements carefully--although a territory of France, Schengen visas do not permit entry here.Best Way To Get Around: Renting a car is the easiest way to get around the...Read More

Le Nautile Hotel

Hotel | "Le Nautile"

Quote:
This is small hotel located right on a beach. Rooms and main areas have a tropical theme and are nicely decorated. Rooms are clean, with nice bathrooms, television, and air-conditioning. The pool is small but has a constant water flow, making it a combination between a wave pool and a standard pool. The restaurant serves up delicious dishes, although it is quite pricey. The staff at the hotel are well-trained and extremely nice.

The hotel offers beach chairs and umbrellas to its guests. The water off the beach provides for some limited snorkeling activities.

This museum offers a very exciting look at Reunion's volcanic activity with interactive displays, movies, and many exhibits. It's located near La Fournaise, one of the most active volcanoes in the world. A must for volcano lovers! Entry is about 7 euros.

La Fournaise is one of the world's most active, yet safest volcanoes to visit. It is often possible to watch it erupt--slow lava flows, lurching down the mountain and into the ocean, creating a giant steam bath. At the same time, however, you can also visit the less active parts of the volcano by car and drive over lunar landscapes full of red, grey, and orange rock formations. Huge craters abound. This is truly one of the most interesting locations I have ever visited, and I would jump at the chance to go again.
