Weekend of Relaxing with the Family

A January 2005 trip to Flint by CDub

Vacation from Holiday VacationingMore Photos

We took a getaway for just the weekend. We needed a break from the holidays, and the Villages was the place for my family to just get away. It was cosy and wooded and away from everything.

Family Love
Sometimes you need a vacation after celebrating the holidays. Sometimes you are just tired when you go back to work. The Villages is a nice spot to relax. And if you can go in the winter months, the better it is. There’s nothing more relaxing than being away from everything, sitting by the fire place with family while playing games of Sorry and Scrabble. The Villages is nicely laid out in the woods of East Texas. You have to be careful to not drive by the place, as it is truly off the beaten path. We enjoyed it! My kids where able to get away to the activity center and have a ball with the many kids that were at the activity center.

Quick Tips:

It’s best to bring your items with you to the Villages. The nearest grocery store is about 2 miles away. The Villages is really out in the woods. Make sure you get reliable directions before you come out. Cellular phones tend to fade in and out. Ask for the Lakeside Lodges when you get there; Lakeside Lodges has beach access and a playground area around beautiful Lake Palestine.

Best Way To Get Around:

The best and only way to get around is car. The Villages is a large resort that is spread out over many acres. You do find people jogging in the mornings.

Best Things Nearby:
There is nothing nearby - but that is the idea. You go to the Villages to get away and that is what you get. You could go to Lakes Tyler, TX to shop.

Best Things About the Resort:
It has a cozy family atmosphere. It's a place where you can take the kids and actually cut them loose because the resort offers many activities.

Resort Experience:
This was just a weekend getaway. We needed a break from the holidays, and the Villages was the place for my family to just get away. It's in a cosy and wooded area away from everything.

We had a great holiday season, but one thing happened - we became tired. My family needed a vacation from holiday vacationing, we needed some time to relax and do nothing. The Villages offer just that, time to unwind, and at the same time, allow the kids to be kids with the many activities they provide. My kids where able to do absolutely nothing, but the opportunity to have fun was there whenever they felt they needed something to do. The Villages is the perfect place to unwind from everything.

Attraction | "Activity Center"

Flint, Texas, is nowhere! We needed a break from the holidays, and we found the best spot to relax. There are activities for the kids galore at the activities center, where activities are all day long. You have the option of horseback riding, renting a pontoon boat, fishing boat, tubing, or paddle boats. You can even take a trip to Tyler, Texas, which is approximately 15 miles away, and maybe go over to the RESERVE ESTATE and take a look at the HGTV GIVEAWAY HOME. What a home!!
