Hawaiian Vacation

A January 2005 trip to Kona by rhaze59

We loved it at Paniola Greens. The Big Island was so diversified. We especially liked The Big Island Discovery Tour with Donnie. I would love to go back again

The highlights were the Big Island Discovery Tour with Donnie, a dinner cruise, and the on-site activities. The luau was great.

Quick Tips:

Take a timeshare presentation and save a lot on off-site activities. Capt. Beans Dinner Cruise was fun, and Big Island Discovery Tour is a must! The luaus were very entertaining.

Best Way To Get Around:

A rental car is a must.
The rooms were clean and slept five, with one sleeping on the pull-out sofa, and this was a two-bedroom. The grounds were spotless. The beds were very soft.

Paniolo Greens
68-1745 Waikoloa Blvd Kona, Hawaii

Best Things Nearby:
Beaches, shopping, restaurants, horseback riding, and golf.

Best Things About the Resort:
There was beautiful scenery and relaxing on-site activites. They offer the must-see Big Island Discovery Tour.

Resort Experience:
At our resort there were wild turkeys to feed; a beautiful atmosphere; and nice, prompt, and well-informed tour guides. Our room (room C101) overlooked the snow-capped mountains on the right, which was awesome; the golf course; lush green mountains in front of the patio area; and the Pacific Ocean on the left.

The weather was nice (75°F to 80°F), with a little bit of rain. There are 11 different climate zones on the Big Island.

The staff was friendly and accommodating. The only thing that I didn't like was the comfort of the beds, but other than that, it was a great place to get away. If you’re looking for what you see in movies and TV, that's on Maui. Other than that, leave all your expectations at home and enjoy yourself. On a scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the worst), I rate it a 9.5.

Best Things About the Resort:
The staff was very courteous, friendly, and extremely helpful. On-site activities

Resort Experience:
With relaxing, beautiful views, well-kept grounds, and wild turkeys all over looking for a handout, this is the perfect place to get away and relax. But it's about a 40-minute drive to Kona, where all the shopping and activities are. Also, there are great AA meetings here.

You get to see all the major sights that the Big Island has to offer: Rainbow Falls, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Orchard Gardens, and Mauna Loa Macadamia Orchard. Black Sand Beach and Pu'uhonua Place are great places to take refuge. There are tours on Wednesday from Paniolo Greens, which take 12 hours and are a must if you want to see all the highlights of the Big Island. Donnie, the tour guide, will keep you amused and laughing all day. The trip seems to go by quickly, even though it's 12 hours long.
