We had a wonderful vacation!

Marriott Waiohai Beach Club

The hotel grounds are fabulous. There is a beautiful lagoon in the middle of the buildings. It is located on the sunny side of Kauai, and it doesn't rain half as much as on the North Shore. Poipu Beach is located right in front of the hotel, but the beach in front of the Sheraton in less rocky and better for surf.

The one thing we didn't like about the hotel is that they only serve dinner in their restaurant from Thursday to Saturday. Every other night you have to go off the grounds and find a restaurant or go to the marketplace near the lobby and pick up something.

Kauai is a great island if you love the beach. There are activities to do, such as tours, but there are not half as many as on Oahu. Shopping near the hotel is limited. A rental car is a definitely a MUST. But as far as the hotel goes, all of the staff is ABSOLUTELY friendly. The rooms are great, too. We had four people with us and always felt comfortable.

Captain Andy's NaPali Tour

We took the 4-hour tour, which went from Port Allen almost all the way to the north side of the island. You see beautiful mountains, waterfalls, and beaches everywhere! The crew provides you with dinner and is very eager to answer any questions you have. Once you travel as far north as you can go, they stop the boat and allow you to take pictures before returning to Port Allen. You also will probably see MANY spinner dolphins on your way out--we saw at least 25 come up to the ship right next to us. Beware, though: the waters can get a little rough, and you might get a little seasick.
