If you're looking for authentic soul food or Jamaican food, forget Sylvia's--Maroon's is the place! This is a family-owned and operated restaurant that has been around since 2000 and almost overnight became a favorite among "in-the-know" New Yorkers. The food evokes memories of my Southern upbringing and gives me a warm, happy feeling just to think of it. Be warned, though--as great as the food is, the service can be extremely trying on the nerves. It is best to go on off-nights or very early on the weekends. This place is also very tiny, so it tends to be booked up well in advance. Call well ahead!
