FALL in love with Maine

A September 2004 trip to Maine by MrsKoiboy

We had never seen New England and chose Samoset Lodge as our home base. It's a wonderful resort. We saw deer and racoon on the property, visited Acadia Park and ate Maine lobster every day. Recommend little lobster shacks, but otherwise try the Lobster Pound Restaurant in Lincolnville Beach.

Best Things Nearby:
Camden, Owls' Head Lighthouse, Acadia National Park, exploring seaside towns.

Best Things About the Resort:
Charming resort, very clean and views of the water from every room. You can walk to Breakwater Lighthouse, great for golfing, though I don't golf.

Resort Experience:
Resort is upscale with a great gym and nice restaurants. Our unit was clean and had nice furniture. The small kitchen was well equipped, all utensils supplied.

You enter this three-story property on level 2, so you may have to go up or down one level. There is no elevator, so it was a bit of a chore lugging suitcases down the stairs. We always found parking, but not enough spaces close to timeshare units. Resort seems to cater more to guests than owners.

There is no nightlife to speak of, and we did not travel with children, so are unable to comment on family activities.
