Chez PanisseBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Chez Panisse Cafe"

Chez Panisse is the birthplace of 'California Cuisine,' which uses the fresh flavors of in season local ingredients, preferably organic. At Chez Panisse, you can choose from the downstairs restaurant, which has a daily fixed-price menu, or the more moderately priced upstairs cafe. Either way you'll be treated to the clean flavors of seasonal produce, meats, pizza, or pasta, prepared without a lot of fuss but with a maximum of flavor.

Cheese Board PizzaBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

The Cheese Board Pizza Collective offers a different style of pizza each day for lunch, and dinner on some days. It's a sauceless pizza, always vegetarian, and always delicious. They frequently have live music to listen to as you wait in a fast-moving line. It's a rare day when you don't hear someone in line commenting that the Cheese Board Pizza has the best pizza anywhere.

Vik's Chaat HouseBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

Vik's is the place where the locals go to get Indian 'chaat' -- Indian food often served as roadside snacks. This is a great place to experience new, authentic flavors of Indian cuisine -- from puffy balloon bread with delicious savory mango pickle, to vegetable pakoras, to potato and chickpea samosas. There's always a crowd, and you might have to fight for a table, but I think you'll find it's more than worth it.

Berkeley MarinaBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

This is a great path by the bay -- ideal for running or walking. You'll enjoy clear views of San Francisco as well as beautiful birds and wildflowers. There is a water fountain as well as portable toilets. Occasionally it can be quite windy, but that makes the Berkeley Marina a good choice for a warm weather workout.
