My favorite moment was at the wine festival in Grevenmacher during the fireworks display over the Moselle River with all the marching bands along the riverside. The Royalty attends the Parade held on Sunday and the Marching competion held on Saturday. There is ball on Saturday night with live music and local costumes as well as dancing in the street.Quick Tips: Please do yourself a favor and try the local food. Especially the Ardennes Ham, Wonderful!!! Plan to spend at least two days in Luxembourg and at leat two more days traveling to some of the cities. None of the cities is more than an hour from the capital. Please try the local bakeries and meat markets and do not forget the bratwurst f...Read More

Mistress Cati will greet you in her small quaint hotel located on the Sure River in the small village of Moresdorf about 5 miles north of Wasserbilling. The small size of the rooms is made up by the private facilities small shower, sink with large mirror and toilet located at the far end of the room would believe right next to the window. We had two windows at right angles, and the kind that open all three ways and then there was the wonderful breakfast Cati served in the sunroom with a view of the river. The rooms was spotless and bright , and included wardrobe, sitting chairs, end tables with reading lights and the service with out fault. We enjoyed a double bed instead of the typical two beds push...Read More

When you think you have sampled enough of the local cuisine, then you need to try this charming tiny restaurant on the main drag in Wasserbilling, just few kilometers north of Grevenmacher on the river. Snug is the word, close tables but with sparkling white table clothes and peaked pink napkins. Four petite polite waitresses bowed and fill all the orders with precision and speed. First there were tiny spring rolls with shredded vegetables, complimentary. One can choose from over 45 different combos of chicken, beef, pork or just veggies, with an array of sauces all the way to fiery. Mirrors and gold and back laquer sparkled in all the corners while large platters steaming food rested on small burne...Read More

Well, everyone loves a surprise and this restaurant is a lovely one. Located on Highway 7 in Luxembourg traveling north about 7k from the Belgium border, so I would say the food is a cross between French and German, but most definitely local. Our last few days had arrived and we were traveling by car by way of Liege back to Brussels. Lunch time caught us at a small intersection with a non-descript bed and breakfast sign slightly off to our left. The cafe sat deep in the parking lot on the left and looked quiet. Not so on the inside. Cold rain and blustery winds made the cosy cafe bar very welcome. Dark wood paneling, heavy wooden pedestal tables, cheery table clothes and an agreeable ...Read More

Sure River Walk

Attraction

As you exit the Hotel Hoffman take an immediate right and go about 50 feet, there is the walking path, hugging the side of the lazy River Sure. Going North, the path gradually increases in steepness but never goes beyond the beginner stage. To the South the river begins to widen and slowly gain speed. Along the wide and sometimes rocky bank, the asphalt path undulates and winds beneath a canopy of craggy trees and ocassionly you will stumble on to a old river house or water mill. Aproaching the town of Wasserbilling you will see overhead the immense overpass of the main autobahn from Luxembourg to Trier. A fly away superstructure towering above the valley where the river meanders from one village ...Read More
