A July 2002 trip

Quote: If you want cleanliness, coupled with efficiency in Asia, this is the place to check out! Singapore certainly has a very different feel than Malaysia or any other East Asian country.
Eating along the quay downtown by myself was very nice and certainly relaxing as you watch boats drift by...
Since my visit to Singapore was mixed with visiting family, I would have hiked around a little more to see the natural landscape and lush vegetation of Singapore. Don't get me wrong, I did Sentosa Island, the beaches, and the botanical gardens, all considered to be safe. Since I'm more into off-the-track discoveries, I'm sure there are plenty of places and things to see.
One thing I would recommend when travelling by yourself is to trust your gut. A lot of things can be seen and you can feel safe as long as you are willing to trust yourself, and in doing so, you can trust others. There are plenty of ex-pats working and living and Singapore, so it's nice to meet new faces!
Enjoy your time, and of course, try the best Singapore Sling at the most memorable hotel downtown-can you figure out what it is?
