Back Bay Boston

A November 2004 trip to Boston by Chuckk

Quote: Trip down Newbury Street, a few days after Thanksgiving. Also called the Back Bay and more like Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Close-up views from the fantastic shops, architectural building to entry doors to shops. A different view for all to see.

You won't find Home Depot here or many bargains. This is all high-end merchandise, with famous brands from Gucci to Benetton, art and antiques stores galore (too many to mention), the usual GAP, and even a CVS (drug store). The holiday season is a very special time of year, with decor, lights, and nip of winter in the air. Make sure you visit just before evening to get a taste of old street-lighting fixtures, sprinkled bright lights throughout the street. See photos. There are restaurants on every corner, and most shops are open till 9pm. Parking on the street is metered at 25 cents for 15 minutes, so bring your quarters for up to two hours' parking at a time.

I've enjoyed sharing with you the design and architecture wonders which I've looked at many times over the last 12 years of Boston Back Bay. So I'm trying a different approach here. Through the eyes of the camera and hopefully your next visit here, you will look at Boston and notice many wonderful buildings and structures, from the slate roofs to the entry doors of those wonderful shops and apartments.
