Ft Lauderdale is not just for spring breakers

A November 2004 trip to Fort Lauderdale by Ira Kincaid

Fort Lauderdale, FL has it all. Great restaurants, shopping, beautiful beaches, activities, and tours.

Best Things About the Resort:
Location, location, location.

Resort Experience:
The resort is 17+ stories, but each floor gives the illusion that it is a small resort. The units are very large, except for the bathrooms, and the lobby has the typical Floridian atmosphere, e.g., tile floors, palm trees, and nautical themes.

We didn't realize when we picked this restaurant that it came with a floor show. The locals catch fish for the pelicans, and the pelicans line up on the dock and wait their turn for dinner. They lined up just like soldiers. The restaurant has a five-course meal that they offer at $17 per person, and your selection is very broad for the main entree. The seafood newburg dish was unsurpassed. This restaurant is not easy to find, but it's worth the extra effort.

The restaurant is located at the Galleria Mall. Outside dining is available, as well as intimate candlelight dining inside. The servers are very friendly and accommodating. The food was outstanding. The drinks are higher-priced than most restaurants in the area, but consider people-watching as a floor show, and they will seem much more reasonable.
