This year, the first week of October proved to be a great time for a week long vacation in Summit County, Colorado. The Aspen leaves had not yet dropped and the folliage was still breathtaking. Accomodations were a unit in Anchorage II condos. The view looking out the sliding doors to the patio was of the Dillon marina and the mountains behind. It was spectacular. Easy day trips can be made to Vail/Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone. Aspen took a little longer via Independence Pass, but with 3 photo stops we still made it in time for lunch. The newly opened Mexico Restaurant & Catina in Dillon offered some excellent gourmet dining. The longest side trip we took was to Rocky Mountain National Park. Including a hike to Alberta Falls in the park and a return via Trail Ridge Road. That day trip took from sun up to well after sunset. Lots to do and much spectacular scenery for photography.
