Hands down, Santa Barbara's winner for the best place to go for a romantic tête-a-tête, or a large group meal. Always crowded but full of atmosphere, Palazzio boasts that "People don't generally leave here hungry". And they're absolutely correct. A full menu of pasta and other assorted Italian dishes (see http://www.palazzios.com/menu.htm for a full menu). The ceiling has a reproduction of a cistene chapel. There is a wine bar "on the honour system" and teamwork service staff. And best of all, you'd shove your best friend to get at the garlic butter rolls on the table as they are so good. :)InfoBusiness Hours...Read More

State Street is the "main drag" of Santa Barbara. Although a bit overly trendy in places, it's an interesting street filled with specialty shops, cafés, restaurants, sights, fountains and people... even the occasional street performer.

Busy night and day, State Street ends at the Wharf where open market vendors abound by a fabulous ocean view. Plan to spend a day wandering around.

One of the most beautiful public buildings in the entire state, this 1929 Moorish building is well worth the time to visit. There is an abundance of wrought iron work including gates, chandeliers, and balustrades. Inside, tile, mosaics, murals, and woodwork are breathtaking. Also, a tower has a view of Santa Barbara that can't be beat.

Built in 1872 to accommodate passenger steamers and cargo ships, the wooden pier today boasts fine and casual dining, many unique shops, a sea center museum, and fantastic views of the coastal mountain range, the Santa Barbara waterfront, and the channel islands. This is Santa Barbara's most popular tourist destination.

Whether you want to take an offshore tour in the comfort of a large boat, a half day island tour with a possible hike or an all day excursion when you can hike, snorkel or even kayak around the Channel Islands off Santa Barbara Channel, Island Packers' trips will show you the interesting aspects of these barely inhabited California Islands. The islands change with the seasons and so do the natural delights available to you. Wildflowers bloom in the spring, but seals and sea lions are often to be found around the islands (Anacapa Island is also the nesting ground of the Western Gull). Gray Whales can be seen from late December until the end of March when they migrate through the Santa Barbara Channel. ...Read More
