Overview

Great timeshare accommodations at Sheraton Bougainvillas-the two pools are beautiful. Fun town with great restaurants-from fun bars like Carlos and Charlie's and Senor Frogs to very high-end gourmet dining at Cafe des Artiste. Walking at night along the Malecon. An afternoon spent at the beach shacks next to Mismaloya Hotel. Quick Tips: Inexpensive and convenient internet cafe across from the Sheraton- for 1 hour. Wal-Mart and Sam's Club for snacks and food for the condo. For better beaches, head to Nuevo Vallarta via a ferry that runs four-times daily, or buses that leave from Wal-Mart-it's about a 1/2-hour bus trip, and costs about per person....Read More

The location here is perfect -- less than a mile from the center of town in the hotel zone and on the bus route close to three mega grocery stores, Gigante, Wal Mart, and a Mexican rival in case you want supplies for your condo. There are two towers with hotel rooms in case friends are coming along for only a few days and want to join you. The smiles on our faces as we checked in were returned by staff, very happy to be working again after being closed for repairs for over one year after destruction by the hurricane. Everything is spruced up -- brand new pools, tiles, brick work, stone work, plantings, waterfalls, new paint, and soft goods in the rooms. We have a two-bedroom -- no lock off here – ...Read More

Being a lover of French food and piano music, La Petite France's ad in Puerto Vallarta Lifstyles magazine jumped out at me. We procrastinated for a few days because it's away from downtown, near the Fiesta Americana in the hotel zone. We love downtown for it's excitement and like to be in the area so that we can stroll around after dinner and probably stop for a Mexican Coffee and music. Okay, we'll have dinner and take a cab to town. Well . . . we never made it to town. This is leisurely dining. A large octagonal bar and grand piano are in the first room you enter. Candlelit tables with lacy cloths are well spaced to allow private conversation. Diners were well dressed and are mostly couples an...Read More

Abadia Cafe

This is a small, second floor, 50-seat restaurant on Basillo Badillo on restaurant row, with a small balcony for outdoor dining. Upbeat colors decorate the balcony area, which is more popular at lunchtime. After walking around and perusing menus, it was time to sit in a place with air-conditioning. Abadia is done in monochromatic shades of white, grey, and beige, with tables for two and four people. There is quiet music and a decor of vases with branches and lots of mirrors. Abadia quickly brings on a very relaxed feeling. The martinis are large and very chilled. The wild mushrooms in cream sauce and thyme, served in a puff-pastry shell, were a great choice, an introduction of what was yet...Read More

Internet Cafe

Story/Tip

Always wanting to keep in touch, we are always on the lookout for easy, fast, convenient and inexpensive Internet access. We've found what we think is the perfect cafe in Puerto vallartaDiagonally across the street from the Sheraton Bougainvillas, on the hotel strip, is "PV Internet" - We've been using this location for about 5 years. As you enter, there is a desk to purchase Internet time - 10 pesos, or $1, for an hour. How can you beat that?? You're given a slip of paper with an access code, if you log out before using the entire paid for session, it carries over—as long as you don't lose your slip of paper with the password. You can also add more time to the same password if you are in PVR for an e...Read More
