The Tokyo Hilton is a solid choice of accommodation when visiting Tokyo.

Hilton Tokyo

Hotel

I stayed five nights at the Tokyo Hilton in Shinjuku and can highly recommended it as a base for your visit to Tokyo. It is very convenient regarding transportation. The Airport Limousine Bus will deliver you from Narita Airport right to the hotel door. The Hilton has a courtesy shuttle bus that loops to the Shinjuku station every 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the time of day. You can walk through a clean and safe underground tunnel from the hotel to two subway stations just a few minutes away.

The room is clean and efficient. We stayed in a twin room, and there was just enough room to maneuver around the beds and sit in the small chairs by the shoji screen window to watch TV or look out over the city skyline. I'm sure each room has a great view of the Shinjuku Business District. The bathroom is clean and neat, but nothing fancy.

The service was wonderful. The staff is comfortable speaking English and will go out of their way to answer any of your questions, of which I had many.

The hotel has many amenities. The Kinko’s in the lobby is very convenient if you want to log in and check your email. The fee was ¥200 for 10 minutes. There are several restaurants in the hotel and in the shopping mall below the hotel, but we found that the 24-hour Denny's across the street met our budget and served great American or blended coffee. They also serve a variety of Japanese and American meals. There is also a Starbucks next door to the Denny's. I understand that there is a tennis court and a pool, but I did not have a chance to try them out.

This hotel can be somewhat pricy, but if you book it as part of an airline package, like I did, it is a wonderful deal.

The only drawback of staying here is that you are in the middle of the Shinjuku Business District. You will step out among tall skyscrapers. Just a few minutes away, however, you can visit exciting Shinjuku station, enjoy great shopping at Takashima Times Square, or view the city from the top of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.
