A June 2003 trip to Las Vegas by TrVL4LiFe

We were pleased with our accommodations. The cost was less than $100 a night, and we had a great view of the San Francisco Bay. We only stayed one night here. We did not get here until close to midnight. It actually took us 10 hours, instead of 8, to get here from Las Vegas because of all the traffic just leaving Las Vegas. Of course we were exhausted from our drive that all we wanted to do was crash at our hotel room, but we were hungry. The hotel recommended a pizza place that delivered past midnight, so that was convenient instead of driving through an unfamiliar city. The hotel was conveniently located near San Francisco. It is just a short drive to the city. There was trail for jogg...Read More

Fisherman's Wharf

Attraction | "Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco"

Quote:
This is probably the most visited pier in San Francisco. It is a very touristy location where you can basically see the whole city and the famous sights from. You will see the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Transamerica, and the famous sea lions resting by the pier. You will find souvenir shops and vegetable and fruit stands. You can take boat tours of the bay and also visit the Alcatraz. Unfortunately, since we visited in the summer (it was even a weekday), if you want to take a tour of the Alcatraz, you will have to buy tickets 2 days before. Anyway, you will be satisfied with the views of San Francisco from this place.

ChinaTown

Attraction | "Famous ChinaTown"

We have been to Chinatown in New York, but found this one to be exceptional. Once you enter the streets of Chinatown, you will be amazed of the friendly people and atmosphere. You will find souvenir shops all over. We walked up and down two streets and bought many souvenirs and oriental gifts. We highly recommend buying souvenirs here instead of at the Fisherman's Wharf. We found the same items we saw there for a couple of dollars less here.

We did not get a chance to see much of Los Angeles while we were here. We were just suppose to meet family one evening and head back to our homebase in Las Vegas. One our way to their house, we got stuck in the infamous traffic jam on our way into the city starting in the Malibu and Santa Barbara area. When we finally got to L.A., there was so much traffic that we decided to find an exit off the interstate. We saw a sign to Venice Beach. What a place to get a break. It is the famous beach where movies like the basketball scenes of White Men Can't Jump and the beach scenes of Son-in-Law took place. We were there to see the sunset over the Pacific Ocean and what a treat that was. ...Read More

We took our own tour of this incredible city, and we did not even have a map. From leaving our hotel from the Radisson at Brisbane, we were able to find the Fisherman's Wharf and Chinatown. From the Fisherman's Wharf, you will be able to see the whole city right there. We visited Chinatown and Japantown. There is not much to see in Japantown, but we did eat some Japanese cuisine at a small restaurant there at a mini-mall for lunch, famously visited by Keanu Reeves, Monica Seles, and the late John Lennon. We later ate dinner at Chinatown. There is a visitor's center at the Golden Gate Bridge. You can take lots of pictures from there. We also drove down the famous Crooked Street and drove up to th...Read More
