Spa/All-Inclusive paradise

An October 2004 trip to Puerto Vallarta by mattmurphy

We had heard that this resort was the top of the line and went in ready to disagree. Man, was I proven wrong!!!

The resort. The spa was top notch. Although a little on the pricey side, they pampered you to a great level. With my exchange, I recieved a 30-minute massage that left me wishing I had done more!!!! Included with that is a hour-long relaxation course before the massage.

Quick Tips:

Tip, as it was amazing to see how quickly we got served after leaving a very small tip. I usually tipped about , and I had a waiter whenever I needed him around the pool.

Best Way To Get Around:

Although the buses are dirt cheap, we felt a little more comfortable with cabs. They were VERY inexpensive and reliable. I wouldn't really recommend renting a car.

Best Things Nearby:
We didn't leave the resort much, but tours departed about 5 minutes from the resort.

Best Things About the Resort:
The service, food, and the resort itself. I am a spoiled traveller and have been to over 50 resorts. Never have I been treated as well as I was at this resort. The food was tremendous and had amazing variety, the service was impeccable, and the resort was pristine.

Resort Experience:
I went into this vacation being told that this was a top-of-the-line resort; so naturally, I couldn't wait to tear it down!! I tell you what; it lived up to my expectations and then some. The food was tremendous, the staff unbelievable, and the quality of everything was top notch. The worst meal I had all week was a $45 veal chop that was included in my all-inclusive fees. This is not to say that it was bad, just everything else was so good!!!! The first five couples I met were honeymooners that were all paying roughly $500 per night for their rooms. I smiled to myself as I knew I was paying half that amount, plus I got a free massage with it being an RCI exchange!!!

Restaurant

WOW!!!! All the restaurants here are great, but this was our favorite. If you like it spicy, this is your place to go. I highly recommend the Lamb and the Creamy Chipolte Sauce.

Restaurant | "Luca's"

Although listed as Mediterean by resort, it was much more Italian. There were very good dishes and great presentation. This resort has two semi-private dining rooms that made the sunset that much better

Story/Tip

Don't let it scare you off from taking this resort!!! I, 100%, felt like I got value with my exchange. We still did tours and left the resort, but the food was so good that we wanted to eat at the resort! We literally had $300 dinners every night. For lunch we typically ordered sushi at the aqua bar. The first day we were there, room service sent a bottle of rum to our room-talk about convenient! I truly feel if I had purchased what I did separatley I would have spent more money, and I don't think I would have spoiled myself this much! Treat yourself and make this trip. You will not regret it!
