Phoenix, The Legacy Golf Resort

An August 2004 trip to Phoenix by DEZdimona

Phoenix wasn't on our wish list when we requested an exchange for our ZAR timeshare, but it was the only place available within reach of Las Vegas at the time. I'm so glad we went there.

Its about a 2-hour trip to Sedona from Phoenix. The red rocks and "village" are well worth a visit. There are lots of four-wheel tours offered into the red rock country, but even if you don't take one, you can get quite close to these beautiful mountains. The shops are quite expensive, but the merchandise is interesting, especially if you are interested in alternative medicine, as they offer oils and therapies to use there or to take home. It's a good 4-hour (221 miles) drive to the Grand Canyon.

Quick Tips:

The weekly local newspaper is full of hints and suggestions on what is happening; it is included in your welcome pack. The people in the timeshare office are very helpful and knowledgeable about current events. (Don’t rush off to JJ’s flea market.)

Best Way To Get Around:

We hired a car.

Best Things Nearby:
Shops, although you do have to drive to everything. The zoo and the Rawhide restuarant were also the best things to do nearby.

Best Things About the Resort:
The size and comfort of the rooms were the best things.

Resort Experience:
This was fantastic. There were large rooms, and all amenities were modern. It was very comfortable. The pool is large with plenty of room for everybody. There was a great golf course; the service and facilities were very good and the prices for a game were reasonable. The gym was well equipped.

Attraction | "Sedona, Arizona"

I'm a reflexologist, so I was very keen to visit Sedona, due to it being attributed as one of the energy centres of the world. From that point of view, I was disappointed, as it is very commercial and I didn’t feel one bit "spiritual," BUT the beauty and mystique of the striking red buttes and spires surrounding the small city made up for any spiritual disappointment. The shops are very expensive and sell very similar goods; one gets the feeling they may all be owned by one person.
