Sunny Redondo Beach

The Portofino Hotel is located right on the water next to the Marina in Redondo Beach. The Portofino is steps from the Redondo Beach Pier and a 27-mile oceanfront path. The hotel features floor-to-ceiling windows, abundant plants and flowers, and earthy decor. The Portofino provides an experience that encompasses the beauty of the Pacific. It is a gorgeous hotel if a little pricey. The views are incredible and help you escape from the outside world.

The best part about staying at this hotel are the seals. The jetty is right near the hotel and each day you can walk out and see plenty of seals (and some days dolphins) lounging around. They are adorable so be sure to take your camera with you!

The staff at the hotel is very friendly and helpful. I have had out of town guest stay here and they had nothing but the best to say about the staff. They really make you feel welcomed.

For the best in leisure activities, the hotel is across from King Harbor Marina and 27 miles of beachside walking/biking trails. Stretch out on the beach. Try volleyball, beach-style. Stroll to over 15 ocean-view restaurants and the Redondo Pier.

If you like cheesecake, this spot is a must! Their menu is HUGE (over 20 pages of goodies) for lunch and dinner and over 50 delicious cheescakes - that's right, 50!!. The wait is sometimes long, but if you don't mind sitting in the bar area, you can get served fairly quickly. It overlooks the marina, so you've got a beautiful view if you get there right before sunset.

There's outdoor and indoor sitting - if you choose to sit outdoors, there's heat lamps to keep you nice and toasty so don't worry. The wait for seating outside is usually a less so don't worry about sitting outside.

There's something on the menu for everyone here: pasta, burgers, sandwichs, pizzas, Mexican food, salads - you name it, they've got it!

If you don't have time to sit and eat at the restaurant, you can always go in and take out and enjoy back at your hotel room.

My boyfriend loves this place. If you love seafood, than this is the place for you. Once you decide on what type of fish you'll have (fresh fish, live crabs or lobster, clams, mussels), they will charbroil, pan fry, or deep fry it to perfection. This place is open 365 days a year! My favorite are the crabs. I've taken many visitors to this place and have yet to hear a bad comment. It's a casual atmosphere and a lot of fun with great food.

This place has a romantic atmosphere with great food - it's a local favorite. They got a nice little bar you can partake in before dinner. They have good-sized portions and reasonable prices. It's a nice little place to visit for a mellow night out.

I've been to this restaurant two times in the last few months and have enjoyed myself both times. The staff is very friendly and knowlegable about the menu, so ask them anything you want!

Parking is available in the front on PCH or you can use their valet service, which will make your life much easier since there aren't many spots.

This is a great beach to visit. The Redondo pier is a horseshoe pier that has many shops and restaurants and is a nice place to go for a stroll and watch the sunset, or a nice spot to hang out all day at. The boardwalk has many cute shops along with an old-school arcade for both young and old to enjoy. It is a great date or family outing spot-fun for the entire family can be found. Bike, roller-skate and roller-blade rentals are available. In the summer, you can rent jet skis, go parasailing, go for boat rides, or take a walk along the bike path and head over to Hermosa Beach and/ or Manhattan Beach. Many volleyball nets are up and surfers are out all throughout the day, as are the lifeguards. :)

The SEA Laboratory is a fun place to visit. Have fun learning about Redondo Beach's amazing coastal sea life at the highly regarded Marine Research Laboratory. This marine education center offers public tours, which can be arranged by appointment by calling 310/318-7432.

Visitors of all ages are welcome to take a 30-minute guided tour of the SEA Lab Marine Science Education Center. You'll get to see baby sharks, sting rays, turtles, and many more sea animals.

The tour is free, but donations are always appreciated! Or join us for weekend activities at SEA Lab.

Tours are not led while schools are visiting, so please call for tour availability.

If you are in the area during Earth Day, be sure to take part in the beach clean up events.

For fishing enthusiasts, the Redondo Sport Fishing offers a fleet of deep-sea sport fishing vessels. Half-day trips, three-quarter day trips, and twilight runs in the summertime are available. Senior discounts are available on the half-day and three-quarter day boats on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

The HIGHLINER is a charter fishing boat with a friendly and experienced crew specializing in small group charters of up to 15 people.

Ticket office, tackle shop, and passenger boarding is on the Redondo Sport Fishing Pier in Redondo Beach Marina. Fishing licenses and pole rentals are available at the tackle shop. There is a fun atmosphere for all. I used to come here as a kid and continue to bring my kids here. They have little kiddie rides, a few rides for adults, and a good selection of pinball, video games, and Skee-Ball.
