This is a journal about Grand Mayan and Mayan palace.

We stayed in a one-bedroom room with a partial kitchen and dining area. The room also included a private dipping pool on the large deck. The room decor was modern and very clean. Housekeeping visited at least twice a day, usually three times to clean and provide the turn-down service at night.

The Grand Mayan is a resort that you would never have to leave. There are plenty of restaurants, a small grocery store, and plenty of activities to do. The Grand Mayan is actually a new building at the Mayan Palace resort.

Senor Frog's

Restaurant

This place had very good food and drinks. The service was good and the view is fabulous, overlooking the bay. The restaurant is open air on the bay side, so you can enjoy the Mexican weather too.

Bakal

Restaurant

Bakal varies their menu each night. The shrimp buffet was excellent. It included various salads and shrimp grilled to order. The lobster fest, however, is an á la carte menu. I was disappointed in the lobster festival and thought it was a bit expensive.

Rumm-ba! Cafe

Restaurant

From the Mayan Palace you need to take the shuttle to the restaurant at the Sea Garden. The cafe has a mixed menu; I had the fish tacos and thought they were excellent. It is worth the trip from the Mayan Palace.

The Del Lago restaurant in the Grand Mayan is worth visiting many times. They change their buffet themes each night. We attended the seafood and the Tex-Mex nights. They were excellent.
