February in Gatlinburg, TN

A February 2004 trip to Gatlinburg by Kathleen C

Shows are open in the off season, or blue season, and no rush to get tickets. The air quality is very good and life is returning to nature after the winter.

Restaurants, Shows, and Shopping Strips

Best Things About the Resort:
Indoor/outdoor pool, rocking chair to enjoy the view, activities rm, gym, jacuzzi, sauna, game room and very nice people to assist you in get attraction tickets all located in the clubhouse.

Resort Experience:
It was very clean, with a master bedroom, master bathroom, and a private balcony upstairs in the townhouse. There were two twin beds in the guest room, full bath, full kitchen, combined dining-living room area with fireplace, washer and dryer, and balcony with grill. The decor is very nice. It is located not far from all the major shopping strips, crafter's shops, restaurants, and shows.

It is a must to see Dolly's Dixie Stampede and the Blackbear Jamboree. This is a relaxing kind of vacation. And if you are thinking of marriage, there are enough chapels to accommodate any kind of wedding you want--it is advertised as one of the capitals of wedlock, right behind Las Vegas. The restaurants are very good, and there is a Christmas Village Shopping Center open all year. It is the time of the year when the Christmas lights are starting to come down, but they are sure pretty to look at when driving at night. Some shops are closed and the places to mine are too, but the other things make up for it. There is a crafter's area of town also. I can't wait to go back at the end of October.

Dixie Stampede Ramada InnBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Dixie Stampede"

The show was great. The chicken, corn on the cob, apple turnover, pork, soup, and other items were all very good, and eating with your hands can get a bit messy. It's a can't-miss dinner show.

Great American Steak & BuffetBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Great American Steak & Buffet "

It’s a buffet style restaurant, just right for the middle-income crowd. If you have senior citizens with you, please ask for their discount before paying for the meal or they will not get it. There is something there to fit almost everyone’s appetite.

Old Mill RestaurantBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "The Old Mill"

The Old Mill is unique. It has a running mill, general store, and restaurant. The inside has the down home rustic look, and the window-side table give a nice view. The food is down home cooking style, and the service is excellent.

Nascar Cafe (Closed)Best of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Nascar Cafe"

A place for the racecar fan. Racecar revving engines, wheels spinning, car seat booths, live racecar racing on the many large TV’s. The food was very good, and the service was good. There is shop inside, so be ready to spend on t-shirts, caps, and other things. Also, there is a place with racecar drivers' memorabilia. We were adults, but I know anyone with kids would love it.

The food is great - don't just go there once. The service is good. The lemonade is out of this world. The location is easy to find, no problems parking. The onion rings are fantastic. Close to other attractions.

Calhoun's BBQBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Calhoun's BBQ (a Tennessee Restaurant Chain)"

The barbeque sauce used is excellent. The salads are filling, steak comes out the way you order it, side dishes are tasty. The burgers are made just right. The service is good, it's easy to park, and there aren't long waits on getting a table. It a place for locals as well as travelers.
