Ft. Lauderdale, a very close drive down the freeway, is a wonderful place to visit, with great weather and restaurants. The water taxi is always fun for adults and kids. We took a little tour to Sawgrass recreation center which was offered as a gift for attending the timeshare presentation. That was not worth the 2-3 hours you’ll spend at the talk. But we did get a ride on an airboat, which was fun for all of us.

Best Way To Get Around:

You definitely need a car for this resort. You will want to get to the beach (although the resort does have a shuttle bus) and to restaurants. There are only a couple within walking distance.

We stayed at the Fairways at Palm Aire, which is inland a bit in Pompano Beach. It is about a 30-minute drive to the beach because of the all the stop and go traffic. But the beach is located at another Fairfield Resort and is quite nice. The resort is not in a very nice part of town. The nearby WalMart and the grocery store were staffed by persons who seemed inattentive and less than enthusiastic. However it was nice to have them close by. I would not feel comfortable in this area alone at night. The security at the resort is a good as can be expected without making you feel like you are in a prison.
