Family Vacation

A July 2004 trip to Cabo San Lucas by LESLIE OHIO

I own 2 weeks at Playa Grande Resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The vibrant colors of the resort enticed me into buying four years ago. I own a one bedroom suite in September that faces the beach.

Best Things Nearby:
Private beach with no vendors. Plenty of shopping and restaurants.

Best Things About the Resort:
Private beach, no vendors. Five pools. Privacy.

Resort Experience:
The resort is very colorful. They have been developing the resort for the past five years and it had truly become vibrant. Visitors complained about the noise of the construction. They just don't realize that most of the resort is built by hand and the workers work long hours. But now the resort is complete.

The rooms are filled with marble. You definitely have enough bathrooms in a room. A one-bedroom suite has two bathrooms and a three-bedroom suite has three. Wonderful bathtubs if you want to soak. A small kitchen complete with pots, pans and dishes. TV's in all rooms with cable. Most of all you can sleep with the sliding glass doors open if you want a breeze and fresh air.

Best Things Nearby:
The Lover's Beach, the marina and a short walk to town.

Best Things About the Resort:
No vendors on the beach. Colorful resort and quiet.

Resort Experience:
The resort sits at the end of Cabo. It's a wonderful place to whale watch or just watch the Sea of Cortez. The waves crash onto the beach and it sounds like they are crashing into your room. We have a unit that faces the beach. The rooms have everything you will need.

Restaurant

Italian cuisine. A little different than what you might expect in the States. Food is always good and hot. The service is great and the waiters always smile.

El CoralBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

Open-air restaurant. They have a large Rottweiler that walks around. Don't worry, it is harmless. The food is wonderful for the price. Lobster/steak under $20.00. The food is made fresh on an open grill as you walk in. Don't underestimate the place. The food is really wonderful.

El Squid RoeBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

If you want to eat and party, this is the place to be. The food is good. They make fresh salsa at your table and it is good. The waiters then come around and have you drink tequila. They shoot it in your mouth several different ways. The music is good and so is the company.

Restaurant

The food is okay. You can get better food down the street. I have eaten at the Hard Rock on several occasions over the years. The food is usually lukewarm. The atmosphere is fun and musical.

Restaurant | "Margaritaville"

Margaritaville sits facing the marina and main road. During the evening you can hear all the music playing, plus the mariachi band playing at your table. Sit on the patio and watch everyone walking around the area. The chicken mole was wonderful.
