Malibu Village - summer of 2004

Canet en Roussillon is situated at the beach and is an excellent place to do some sightseeing as the city of Perpignan is only about 15 minutes away by car. You can also drive across the border into Spain and visit the village Figueras where the world famous surrealist painter Dali was born or visit tax-free Andorra or roam around Carcassone and taste the local food and wine specialties. One village that you can't miss is Collioure; it is just wonderful with its cozy town center and delightful terracces where you can enjoy the view of the picturesque port with a drink or a meal in the shade. In Canet itself I would recommend you take a small boat across the harbour for 0.50 euro and eat out in one of the harbour restaurants - good food and reasonably priced.

Quick Tips:

There is a very large supermarket across a very busy road which you can reach through a tunnel (on foot), on arrival in the resort we received a cooling bag with a small bottle of wine and a discount coupon for this supermarket. Next to the supermarket there are also a lot of night-clubs for those interested.

Best Way To Get Around:

The best way to get around would be by car, however there is a bus stop in front of the hotel and you can get to the beach front on foot (walking about 15 to 20 minutes)

Best Things Nearby:
Best things nearby are the long sandy beaches and watersports facilities.

Best Things About the Resort:
Spacious unit with sitting room with pull-out sofa, full kitchen, 1 room with double bed, 1 full bathroom, 1 shower room, TV with only french channels, air-conditioning. The resort has 3 swimming pools, nice gardens with palm trees, there's a squash hall and mini-fitnessgym, tenniscourts, a snackbar and a gastronomic restaurant and one buffet-restaurant.

Resort Experience:
The unit we stayed in was spatious and very clean, however it was getting old and it was starting to show. The window in the sitting room wasn't closing properly anymore but that should be easy to fix. The south of France is beautiful but there is a price to pay. It is very, very expensive. For example, if you go and have a drink for a simple coca cola with nothing added you will pay 3 euro.
