Relaxing in Mexico

A September 2004 trip to Playa del Carmen by jbzway

The Grand Mayan Palace was gorgeous. The large room included a jet tub in one bathroom and a bath in one of the bedrooms. We had a small private pool on our balcony. Food was expensive. Nearby Xcaret has snorkling down an underground river. It's humid this time of year.

Xcaret and snorkling down the underground river. Also an great show at the end of the day.

Quick Tips:

You can go topless (I didn't) on the beach, but not at the resort.

Best Way To Get Around:

There is no way you can walk anywhere from the resort. It's too far and you have to take a taxi or shuttle to get into town.

Hotel

Very large and nice rooms. We had a two bedroom, 2 bath, full kitchen and living room. Daily maid service and they do an excellent job. Night chambermaid pulls bedding down and puts chocolates on bed. Wonderful rooms.

The pool was so big and the resort offered different activities. They had daily water aerobics, vollyball, ping-pong, arts and crafts, bingo, and all kinds of other games to keep the kids entertained. My kids had a great time all day long.

This place was wonderful. The price of the tickets also included transportation from my resport. We arrived around 10:30am and the show was over a little after 9:00pm. Very fun day with lots of activities. They had snorkling, a beach area (no waves for the little ones), aquarium, boat ride, animals to look at. We were there all day and didn't get to see everything there was to do. We ran out of time. Great place to go.

Attraction

The resort was right on the beach. This beach was to rocky to go swimming in, but they offered water activites and the water was beautiful. It was so clear, you could see fish swimming all around you. You could walk a bit down the beach and swim there.
