Corfu, Greece

An August 2004 trip to Corfu by Greek Kat

Corfu is a great island to visit. Certain parts of the island are very touristy while others are peaceful and romantic. St. George is a ways from the main city and airport (about an hour away), but really cute and right on the beach.

Overview

View of St George
This is a great island for families and singles or for a romantic getaway. I perfer the northern part of the island, where it's a little more calm; the western part is a little more for the party spots.

Quick Tips:

You MUST go to Liston at night for dinner or coffee. The architecture in this area is beautiful, and it's a great spot to people-watch and see the beauty of Corfu town.

Rooms To LetBest of IgoUgo

Hotel | "Rooms To let Across the Island"

I can't remember specfic names of most places we stayed at, but we cruised the island, choosing a different location each night to stay at by renting "rooms to let". It was a great (and affordable) way to see the island. Corfu can be a pricey island, so I was happy to get rooms for €30 to €40 a night.

Attraction

Aqualand, one of the most amazing water parks in Europe, is situated 7km outside of Corfu Town in pleasent surroundings, and it is easy to reach from anywhere on the island.

The park covers an area of over 70,000 square meters, with a free parking lot that can accomodate up to 600 vehicles. It provides many facilities to make your visit one that you won't forget.
