Luxury in the Mayan Riviera

An August 2004 trip to Cancun by kaycooke1950

We spent a week at the Grand Mayan Place just south of Cancun. We visited the ruins one morning, shopped and lunched in Playa and spent a day in Cancun where we shopped and did the BOB (Breathing Observation Bubble) trip.

Best Things Nearby:
The ruins at Tulum were interesting and we ate lunch at La Buena Vida, a beach bar in Akumal, on the way back. One day we spent the day in Cancun where we shopped, dined and went on the BOB (Breathing Observation Bubble) trip. It's easy to do and so much better than snorkeling.

Best Things About the Resort:
The accommodations are luxurious and the restaurants were excellent and not too pricey. The staff were friendly and efficient. The pool is incredible and soon they will open a huge spa and fitness center. Free shows every night, usually related to the Mexican culture.

Resort Experience:
This is a great resort and very large so it requires a lot of walking unless you want to wait for a shuttle that runs about every 15 minutes. The seafood and Italian restaurants were excellent.
