York Days, Maine

A July 2004 trip to York by Rexhame Bill

"York Days" is a celebration of beach, carnival, and farmer's market held annually. There is a fair for the kids and auction/craft sales for adults, sand castle sculpting contest and ends on Sunday night with a fireworks display from Short Sands Beach. This is an good family spot for a down Maine vacation.

Luxury room had queen bed, bath with separate sink and dressing area, mini refrigerator, TV, telephone, and individually controlled heat or air-conditioning. Very clean and well maintained furnishings. Good continental breakfast available each morning in common room. Seasonal heated swimming pool and hot tub and patio sitting/sunning area. Short walk to Long Sands beach or 1/2 mile to Short Sands beach and town stores. Nubble Lighthouse about 2/3 of a mile away. Trolley (summer) available to tour/taxi the beach areas and to Ogunquit about five miles away.

Clean, wide, and walkable public beach. View of Nubble Lighthouse and local private homes. Public facilities, lifeguards, and local stores along the beach area.

Short Sands beach about 1/2 mile away has public facilities and another clean beach area with rocks to climb and search for sea creatures. Town area stores a short distance. Both areas have public metered parking next to beach. Maine temperature water.
