Tasik Chini or Lake Chini is one of the authentic and mysterious lake in Malaysia. Located approximately 100 kilometers from Kuantan, the capital state of Pahang, consists of a string of more than 12 connectected lakes.

Here, one can enjoy activities such as fishing, camping, jungle trekking, speed-boating, visiting the Kampung Gumum, an Orang Asli (aborogines) village.

A Jakun aborogine legend says that the Lake Chini is the home of a naga - a water serpent, and most of the purpose sightings have taken place in a body of water named Laut Gumum by the locals. The lake is also to be the site of a sunken Khmer city and archeologist have mounted expeditions to locate it but without success.

From June to September, the surface of the lake will be covered with thousands of pink and white lotus blossoms.

Best Way To Get Around:

To travel to Tasik Chini from Kuantan, you can either drive to the village of Chini and then through the oil plantation of Felda Chini. Or you can also take bus # 121 from Kuantan to Chini and then take motorbike-taxi to either Lake Chini Resort or Kampung Gumum.

Another interesting option is to go to Kampung Belimbing, and take a boat across the Sungai Pahang - the Pahang river, and then up the Sungai Chini to the lake. Many hotels in Kuantan organise day trips to Tasik Chini for those interested to see the wild sanctuary and the lifestyle of the aborogines.
