California Desert

A July 2004 trip to Palm Springs by lizdewar

My husband and I drove from San Diego to Palm Springs, not expecting the temperature to get in the 100s. We stayed at the Residence Inn in Desert Springs, which I recommend. We spent our time getting massages, swimming in the pool, and eating. It was a great trip.

The Residence Inn was about $100 a night, which is about average for a nice hotel. The location was pretty good. We did have to drive a bit to get to the west side of Palm Springs. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

Babe's is located in an outdoor mall in Palm Springs. Because we were trying to eat healthy, we didn't eat a whole lot, but the barbecue we had was really great.

We went to the air museum in Palm Desert. It is pretty small but still interesting. We saw the unveiling of the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan, which my husband had just been on around South America. I think admission was $8.

Attraction | "Agua Caliente Casino"

This was my first time visiting a casino. We don't gamble, but I wanted to see what it was like inside. There were lots of different slot machines and card tables. There was a room off to the side with a band playing.
