An April 2004 trip

Quote: 04/04/2004: Arrive at Patong Beach, Phuket. Went shopping along the beach and encoutered unpleasant attitudes from a sales person. Within half day, finished shopping.
05/04/2004: Try elephant trekking at 780bht, parasailing 600bht and bungee jump at 1400bht.
06/04/2004: Try out the eateries.
The staff is very friendly too. When we arrived for check in, the guests were being served orange juice as a welcome drink.
It is a wonderful experience when I walked into the room that was decorated and furnished like a 5-star hotel room.
And the location is conveniently close to the shopping areas too.
It has a small sized swimming pool and a cafe built like a hut, serving mostly western food.
Plants and tree surrounded the hotel area, which made me very relaxed. Definitely worth it.

Later on, the jeep took me to the camp where there are two baby elephants doing tricks, like painting. They also curtsy when being fed bananas that can be bought at 20Bht per basket. You can take pictures too.
Then I was brought to another site where there is a souvenir hut selling all sorts of elephant-shaped wooden and clay miniatures, spoons, t-shirts, and more.
After a briefing, I sat on the elephants, which trek for around 30 minutes. One can behold the vast landscape of dewy mountains, a crystal-clear ocean, and feel the breeze. At the end of the trip, one can buy more bananas as a reward for the elephant.
Overall, it is a nice experience, especially when the elephants make a fuss to move on, and when they go up and down the hill, like in a roller coaster but at a much, much slower pace - and it cost me only 980Bht.
