Niagara Adventure

Overview

Quote:
Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada, is a spectacular destination for a family vacation. Niagara Parks is beautiful, for the falls themselves (which are truly spectacular) and for the gardens, butterflies, and overall adventure.Quick Tips: As might be expected, venue "combo deals" abound here, but after much research (before and during the trip), the Niagara Parks Adventure pass is the best deal for the venues within the park, which can be purchased online ahead of time (see http://www.niagaraparks.com/) or in the park. Steer clear of the tours offered at hotels, as they are really not savings and may lock you into venues you won't want.Best Way To Get Around: While we had our car in ...Read More

The Embassy Suites Fallsview was a comfortable hotel for our Niagara Falls vacation. Just one block from the falls, nearly the all of the two-room suites offer views of either the Horseshoe (Canadian) Falls, or both the Canadian and American Falls, as well as much of the park area. Proximity is a bit deceiving, however, as the walk to the falls cannot be made directly. One must either take the Incline Railway ride ($2 CN per person) down the nearly 45-degree slope straight down, or walk a ways around the Niagara Fallsview Resort. The year-old hotel offers either queen rooms with whirlpool tub (open to the bedroom), or two queen beds. The "kitchenette" includes a small sink, very small refriger...Read More

My Cousin Vinny's

We had two dinners at Vinny’s, an Italian-American eatery, about a block walk from the Embassy Suites Hotel. The food was standard Italian fare and very good. Children’s portions were small, so if you have an older child or a big eater, go for the adult dishes. Prices were moderate for the area (which tends to the high end for similar restaurants in the US). They have a nice outdoor terrace area surrounded by beautiful flowers as well as live music on the terrace just about every night.

Ruby Tuesday's

Restaurant

Quote:
Ruby Tuesday’s is a familiar chain restaurant, located in the Clifton Hill Area. The food was good, reasonably priced, and exceptionally fast (we were seated at about 5:45 and out within an hour). We were able to sit on the outdoor terrace. It was a bit windy, but a great spot for watching the bustle on Clifton Hill just below without feeling as if you were in the middle of it. While the food was fine but nothing special, the service was exceptional. Our kids were tired and cranky and LOUD, but we felt no pressure or stress from the wait staff. They were very accommodating, even with indecision and orders changed at the last minute. The speed with which we got our dinners was, we found out, bot...Read More

My family and I (husband, 14-year-old daughter and 8-year old son) spent a great summer week in Niagara Falls, Ontario. This was not a long-planned destination, but one that was recommended by friends and capped off when I found a great Internet deal with the Embassy Suites Hotel (an RCI purchase through Cheaptickets.com, as it turned out). But as the date approached and I did more research into the area and activities, our excitement grew. This is one of the wonders of the natural world, and a welcome change to our usual summer vacation on a New England beach (been there, done that.) We were psyched. We drove to Niagara Falls from our home north of Boston, about 8 hours to go the nearly 500...Read More
