Village of WInnipesaukee

An August 2004 trip to Weirs Beach by Ms. Troy

Unit was spacious, not clean. Have to go down three flights of stairs from the parking lot and then up three flights before you get to your unit. No view of Lake Winnipesaukee as shown in directory. Lake and other activities accessibility meant getting in the car.

The people that work in the office were not very outgoing/friendly. Getting to our unit meant walking down a long set of stairs from the parking lot and then up three flights--no elevators) carrying our luggage, food and coolers for the week.

Our unit was spacious and stocked. We opened the curtain/slider to our balcony hoping to see a view of Lake Winnipesaukee as shown in the RCI directory, only to see nothing but trees.

As we unloaded our food and clothes, we noticed that the floors were sticky, carpeting needed a good vacuuming. My husband found a vacuum in one of the closets and proceeded to pull it out and vacuum. Well the vacuum starts spitting out stuff and peppering his legs. He noticed that the hose is not properly attached to the vacuum so he fixed that. Lastly, the lampshade on the light that hangs above the kitchen table was so filthy with dust and dirt that I actually saw my husband vacuuming the lampshade as best he could (not a pleasant sight to look at a dirty lampshade when you are eating at the table). On a good note, the bathrooms were all very clean and the unit was great, once we cleaned it up.

Before we arrived at VWTOA, we called ahead and asked if we could bring a small barbeque. We were told that we could not use it on our balcony, but that they did have a designated barbeque area that we could cook in. Well they neglected to tell us that it was at the entrance to the place and behind the office. The office was located off the main road and did not have a separate entrance from the units. We chose not to cook out that evening because our food would have been cold by the time we cooked the food, got back in our car and drove to our unit, walked down the equivalent of three sets of stairs and then up three more sets to our unit. Not to mention we would have to go back to the barbeque area to retrieve our grill after it had cooled off.

Well I guess I would have to say that I enjoyed the unit once it was cleaned up.

Best Way To Get Around:

Accessibility to the lake and other activities in the area were not as expected since it meant getting in the car in order to enjoy any of the area's activities or attractions.
