Week in Cabo

Overview

Sunset Dinner cruise on Cabo Rey (be sure to get discount tickets from your hotel or timeshare). The food was excellent and the entertainment was wonderful. Beware of the extra "port tax" - they will charge you!

Quick Tips:

Check out everything before you do it! The "sunset horseback ride on the beach" was 5 minutes on the beach and 85 minutes trudging through dirt and weeds.

The ATV excursion costs more than the price you are quoted. Watch out for the insurance! Ask how much insurance is BEFORE you book and whether or not you have to leave an "open" credit card!!

The sunset dinner cruise was paid for in advance, but then we had to pay a "port tax" when we arrived at the boat. No one had told us of that.

And beware of the hidden tips that are added into your bills at hotels, restaurants, spas, etc.

Best Way To Get Around:

For the most part a taxi is the only way to get around, especially if you are staying in a remote timeshare. But make sure your taxi driver speaks your language! We were taken on a number of "adventures" when the taxi driver had no clue where he was taking us.

Best Things Nearby:
There is nothing nearby. You must take a taxi or shuttle to get to town or another resort. The beach is unusable and is patrolled by local police

Best Things About the Resort:
the pool

Resort Experience:
From the outside the facility is lovely. Beautiful landscaping, architecture, waterfalls. Every room has a view of the ocean. However, due to the steep, winding switchbacks you are dependent upon a bell boy to drive you in a golf cart anywhere you need to go in the resort. It's very inconvenient and time consuming waiting for them to pick you up. The customer service was terrible.

The time share sales pitch was HORRENDOUS. We were demeaned, insulted, made to feel guilty for not buying, and lied to. We were kept captive for 3 hours and the salesman would not leave us alone.

Our first room was a lovely 2 bedroom suite, however there was a slow leak in the ceiling which caused the suite to be more humid inside than it was outside. On our final nite we were moved into a $275 "hotel" room which was way overpriced and completely unacceptable. The room was not clean when we checked in. (There was food on the floor, ants on the floor and in the bathroom, and there were dirty/bloody tissues on the loungechair.) We had no towels and after 2 calls for towels we never received any. The key code was changed on the room without notifying us and we could not get in the room. We were told we would get new keys and we never did. We had to hunt down a maid to open the door (which she did even though we never showed her any identification!!) The "manager" would not assist us with a reduction in the cost of the room despite all of the above problems and issues.
