Around the Trongate area of the city you will discover a wealth of art studios, galleries and workshops. Here some of the bright young things of Glasgow and Scotland exhibit and indeed create their work. If you enjoy the visual arts you will find them well represented but you have too look hard. Check out Parnie Street for the Tron Theatre and the nearby the Print Studio and Transmission Studio. Get across to St Andrews in the Square to check out the architecture of the NEW look Glasgow with the "Homes of the Future" on the Glasgow Green or just relax with a coffee in Cafe Lava and chill to the music.

Quick Tips:

Ask when in the Galleries if they know of other exhibition space nearby and they will direct you to what are often diffficult, yet worthwhile Gallery spaces and studios. You can check out the work and buy if you have the dosh and the inclination.

Best Way To Get Around:

Walking is the best way to see this part of the city. Sure there are some seedy characters from the hostels and local courts but don't let that put you off. It is as safe as any european city if not safer. Glasgow people really are friendly and will always be willing to help a stranger find his/her way around.

Restaurant | "Cafe Lava"

Modern and upbeat coffee shop. Free internet access and Wi-Fi and free newspapers. Very popular with the local lawyers who drop by after their court appearances in the city’s nearby District and High Courts. Very clean and friendly staff. Bit slow to serve as they make the sandwiches to order.
