Benalla is beautiful and sunny in the warmer months, so you could take the family to the playground. The beautiful Rose Gardens are filled with colour during the spring, and at that time Benalla hosts the ‘Rose Festival’ with fireworks and markets, all of the family will enjoy it! You might want to walk around the lake or even swim in it, the walk is around 4 km so it is quite a workout! The Benalla art gallery has some of Sydney Nolan’s most famous pieces or art in it. Nolan was a local artist who painted a lot about some of the history in and around Benalla. Close to Benalla is the Glenrowan siege site, “Kelly’s last stand,” and Winton motor raceway, which hosts the "V8 Super Cars."

The last Saturday of each month is the Benalla lakeside craft market, so if you're in town for that, stop by the market and see if you like anything.

Best Way To Get Around:

During the summer and spring months, walk, because it's a beautiful place to be. But driving is ok too because there is not a lot of traffic.

Surrounded by the scenic and well-known Benalla Rose Gardens, the playground is a great way to keep the kids interested for a while. Because the main feature of the playground is a giant rocket, the park is fondly known as ‘the Rocket Park’- kids of all ages will love climbing to the top of the rocket for sliding down from the second level. Stop in for a picnic lunch during spring and talk while the spring colour of the Rose Gardens surround you.

Benalla theatre company: Benalla theatre company is very successful and put on some classics that are fantastic. Every year they put on two shows, so if you’re in town for that take a night out!
