Cancun in December

A December 2003 trip to Cancun by pstiltner

We went to Cancun as an early holiday present to ourselves.

  • 8 reviews
Tulum, Xpu-Ha, Xcaret, Carlos & Charlie's, Wal Mart (great place for when you forgot something at home), Senor Frogs (must go there!), Coco Bongo, and many more to name.

Quick Tips:

Don't try to do it all in one trip. There is just too much to see!!!

Best Way To Get Around:

Take the bus!

Beach Palace All-InclusiveBest of IgoUgo

Hotel | "Palace Resort at Beach Palace"

Best Things Nearby:
The bus is right out front, and you're withing walking distance of a couple of malls and other shops.

Best Things About the Resort:
The staff were extremely welcoming!!!

Resort Experience:
The resort was very clean and well maintained. It is a dated resort and you can tell it was built in the 1980's. They did a good job with the upkeep, but it was just outdated overall.

The food was excellent except for the Mexican restaurant on site.

The day and evening entertainment was low key, but still enjoyable.

It was also nice to have food available all the time without having to decide where you wanted to go out to eat.

The rooms have mini bars, but no kitchens in them.

We got a room facing the ocean, and the sunrise was gorgeous. The ocean was very warm in the evening too (not that it was ever cold anyway!)

We enjoyed the restaurant at the Beach Palace. The Mexican restaurant was horrible, and we only ate there one time. The staff were awesome in getting us drinks, and whatever else we asked for. The food was always good as well. The drinks were always good too!!

Attraction

We went to Isla Mujeres so we could swim with the dolphins and do some snorkeling. They also had a nurse shark available for you to hold. The shopping area was a little crazy, but we had a great time anyway.

Attraction | "Tulum"

It was a very nice trip. It took less than an hour to drive there, versus the 3 hour drive (one way) to the other ruins. Afterward, we got to play at another Palace Resort on the Mayan Riviera.

The thing I am most impressed with about Cancun is that they ask you to use biodegradable sunblock!! How awesome is that. Their caring for the environment shows because the water is so clean and crystal clear down there. I can't wait to go back already!
