Virginia Retreat

An April 2004 trip to Gordonsville by spinalnurse

This is a great resort to go to with the family. Fun for kids and adults. Lots of local history and great activities at the resort. Mini golf, horseback riding and swimming! Nice cabins!

Best Things Nearby:
Monticello is a must see...spring is best for flowering bulbs! Wineries are fun for all!

Best Things About the Resort:
Free horseback riding...Free mini golf. Lots to do on the resort to relax. Bring fishing poles and cast out onto the stocked lake.

Resort Experience:
This resort is as "rustic" as I like to get. The cabins are small and quaint. The cabins have been updated but are not the highest quality that you expect from most timeshares. The cabins are well-stocked and a quick run to the nearby grocery will stock you for a week. The onsite restaurant left alot to be desired...it was expensive, the air conditioner was set too cold and the food was mediocre at best. Would not go back if I had to pay...we had vouchers.

Attraction | "Monticello Tour"

This is a great walking tour of Thomas Jefferson's home. Walk through the vegetable gardens as well as a breathtaking bulb garden. Lots of interesting national history that kids and adults enjoy. Great gift shop! Can be chilly and damp...good idea to bring an extra jacket.
