Besides the area's usual theme parks, we used Summers Bay Resort as a home base for our other excursions. Clearwater beaches were only an hour and a half away. They were well worth the drive. Truly an awesome area, one we will consider going to again. Cocoa beach was very disappointing. The beaches were not attractive, so we only stayed 1 1/2 hours. If in the Oralndo area and tired of the Disney and Universal scene, we would highly recomend a visit to Old Town. It is on 192 and about 10 minutes away from Summers Bay resort. Very spacious, clean, and well appointed. Location is excellent, close to all the area's main attractions. Even on the days you might take off from visiting the theme parks, you'll find there is plenty to do at this resort.
