Little French Paradise

A February 2004 trip to New Caledonia by Sum

Quote: Beautiful Pacific island with French flavour. A bit more expensive than its neighbours Fiji or Cook Islands. A busy port on the cruise scene with P and O.

Little French Paradise

Overview

Quote:
The town centre of Noumea is compact. Markets are interesting.

Quick Tips:

Electicity is 220 Volts.

Driving is on the right side of the road like the USA, and the cars are lefthand drive.

Best Way To Get Around:

Airport is about one hour's drive away. When you book your holidays - please remember to book an airport transfer. Excellant bus service. They have an all-day ticket for tourists for unlimited rides.

Novotel Surf

Hotel

We stayed in the Sea View rooms. The hotel is located on a beautiful stretch of beach (Anste Vata). The only downside is that you have to cross the main road to get to the beach.

There are motorised and non-motorised water activities on the beach.

Good restaurants and the pool kept us busy!

There is a casino on site.

Staff were very good and spoke good English.

Fabulous - white sandy beaches. We stayed in the deluxe rooms. Rooms were spacious, five-star standard with air-conditioning and had CD players. They also offered 24-hour room service.

Anse Vata Beach

Attraction

There are good beaches at Anse Vata, Pointe Magnin and Baie des Citrons. Tan yourself, relax with a good book, try windsurfing or kayaking, go snorkeling, hire a pedalboat.

Isle of Pines

Story/Tip

Quote:
Magical... a short flight from Noumea domestic airport - Magenta. The view from the air is breathtaking.

The beaches are white sandy. Oro Bay is excellent for kayaking, pedal boats and windsurfing.

Other activities include nature walks, cycling tours, fishing and 4WD tours.

Most resorts are able to organise day trips to neighbouring islands and a picnic!!
