The Resort at Split Rock

Overview

Quote:
One of the highlights was an evening that we went to the lodge (I think it was midweek) to hear the entertainment. It was a very good three-piece group that featured a singer, a sax player and keyboard. The thing was, that there was literally nobody there except for us, so we had a private show, and got to make requests and talk to the musicians.Quick Tips: You WILL get sucked into feeding the deer that come around to the backside of the units. We were patient enough (and had enough goodies) that eventually they were eating out of our hands. My point is, bring deer-friendly munchies like veggies. Although they are fond enough of chips that they will stick their noses right in the bag! The oth...Read More

Best Things Nearby:For us, one of the attractions was its proximity to home (we live in PA).Best Things About the Resort:The unbelievable number of activities, recreational facilities, and wildlife at your doorstep.Resort Experience:As I mentioned, we went to Split Rock for our anniversary, which is in March. March in PA is, um, dreary. A little late for skiing, cold and damp and unpredictable. However, the unit and all of its amenities provided us with plenty to do, plus relaxing in our own whirlpool! We stayed in the Villas, which had a rustic flavor, was very spacious and had all of the amenities. The fireplace was a very nice touch. This is a four-season r...Read More

Nando's

Restaurant

Dining at Nando's was our reward for cooking and eating twice a day at the timeshare. The atmosphere was old-world and charming, while the pace was relaxing and laid back. They had a wide variety on the menu, although Italian was the specialty. We had prime rib, which was very good. The house salads were good, and the warm, homemade bread was very fine. The service was also very good, although that would depend on the waitress!

Horseback Riding

We went trail riding one day that the weather was cool, but really clear and pleasant. The horses were draft horse crosses, so they were very big! The trails were very gentle and scenic, and the rides were designed for novices. There was an abundance of wildlife, and we saw deer!

The resort has all sorts af activities. We really enjoyed the indoor pool and huge hot tub. We also spent several hours shooting pool. One activity that we really enjoyed when the weather was dreary was bowling. The resort has a fine set of lanes, and while we are not bowlers, we had a great time! The recreation choices were outstanding, as well as having evening entertainment (live) that was very enjoyable.
