Puerta de oro de Colombia= Colombia's Gold Thresh

A travel journal to Barranquilla by marsy

Barranquilla is in the Coast of Colombia. Very different from the inner cities like Bogota, Barranquilla has a permanent summer season with a nice cool breeze. It's a very party going City with Carnivals in february. A very safe city with friendly people and beautiful women!!

The cheapest time to go is in February and it is perfect because is carnival time and people are off work. There is a day to throw water to everyone, another one to throw the "maizena" or flour tradition-- everybody wears costumes and is very fun!! And if you drive from Barranquilla to Santa MArta and Cartagena (other coastal cities) you would enjoy your vacation even more because these cities are only 40 minutes away and there are tons of things to see. Money is very devaluated so you would feel rich with even less than . I will put some pictures soon...

Quick Tips:

Beware not to wear your gold jewelry or it will be stolen for sure. Always dress in summer clothing because it gets very hot at times.

Best Way To Get Around:

Best way to get around is by taxis and it is better if you have a Spanish speaking person to help you because some taxi drivers will try to overcharge you. Barranquilla is one of the major Coombian Cities in the Coast of Colombia.

It is a five star hotel located in the middle of the City. Very nice and luxurious. Great food.
