The Swiss have the Romans to thank for their present-day existence, as the latter, in their quest to conquer Europe, created Trans-Alpine routes, which, today, are an easy means for travellers and tourists. The St. Gottard Pass is an example of the Roman legacy, being the shortest way to get from Italy to Switzerland. Nestled between two large sparkling lakes (Thuner See and Brienzer See), Interlaken's strategic location as gateway to the Bernese Oberland makes it one of the most popular resort towns of choice all year-round. There are breathtaking views of the Jungfrau mountain range from the Hoehweg Green in front of Victoria Hotel. Offering more than just a base to access ...Read More

Managed by the Family Engel, Hotel Du Nord was beautifully refurbished and upgraded to four-star status in 2001. The hotel has elegantly appointed suite rooms with huge king-sized beds that are wonderfully luxurious and worthy of a duchess! I was lucky enough to have stayed in one such suite room on the second floor of this four-storey hotel, which overlooks the Hoheweg Promenade in Interlaken center. Other deluxe rooms have views overlooking the castle park with its beautiful church. And a meal or drink at one of the three cafe/restaurants offers views of the Jungfrau massif. Located no more than 15 minutes’ walk away from one of the two railway stations (Ost/Eas...Read More

For a Swiss dining experience like no other... Apart from the fondue combo set (served in 3 courses) for two persons, be sure to try another typical Swiss dish called 'Raclette' (yummy-scrummy). The atmosphere and architecture are typically Swiss. Comfy and welcoming...especially Bebbis himself along with his sidekicks Edgar and Ling, they'll promise you a night of good eats and fun entertainment. Check out their website: Bebbis

In a word: Awesome!!!!! It is Mother Nature at her best! The name Trümmelbach literally means "stream that sounds like a drum". And how! The din that's created by the draining of the enormous glacial walls of the Eiger-Monch-Jungfrau massif, with up to a speed/volume of 20,000 litres per second! There are 10 glacial look-out points inside the mountain that are accessible by a tunnel lift which rises about 100 metres in 60 seconds. It can carry up to 40 passengers at one time with up to a capacity of 500 per hour. It is a technological feat in itself. Constructed in 1983, it is a continued effort first started by the Von Almen family who in 1913 first built tunnels, stairs, and bridges ...Read More
