For the highlights I would definitely say Santa's Village in Jefferson, NH was a hit with the kids (we foster 2, and have 1 of our own). Santa's Village is a small amusement park themed after Santa and the North Pole, and has been in the area forever!
Along with Santa's Village my wife also enjoyed all of the discount shopping in North Conway, which was only 30 minutes away.
Other things to do in the area would be hiking in summer, other smaller area attractions and amusement parks, and of course in the winter season the skiing is second to none, I am told!
Quick Tips:
The only tip about the area is from what I was told, the months of April and October are like a ghost town in this area...but if you like peace and quiet, this might be a good time to go.
Best Way To Get Around:
A car is needed as I didn't see a taxi service, as well most of the resorts in the area are 5 minutes outside of Lincoln/Woodstock area...so a car is recommended.
