Spent a wonderful week at Morritt's Tortuga Club on Grand Cayman in June. Nice resort, beautiful beaches and fun snorkeling.

Morritt's Tortuga Club
One bedroom condo was a timeshare exchange. Room was clean and comfortable with a full kitchen with all amenities except a dishwasher. Housekeeping staff visited daily to exchange towels and empty trash. The resort itself was very clean and well maintained and the pools, especially the "endless" pool on "the Grand" side of the resort, were very nice. I should point out that the resort is actually two timeshare resorts, Tortuga and Grand. Both sides share resort activities and amenities, only the rooms are different. The resort is on the opposite side of the island from the airport, main city Georgetown and the cruise terminal. I cannot stress enough how important it is to RENT A CAR! We stopped at the very modern grocery store to stock our fridge on our way out to Morritt's and saved a lot of money by having breakfast in our room each day. We also cooked dinner on the grills a few times and had snacks and bottled available for our trips around the island.

Resort activities were listed on a schedule handed out upon check in. We attended the Mudslide Madness party and stopped by the Beach BBQ for the entertainment. We were very glad we did not sign up for the Beach BBQ dinner, however. The lines for the food were extremely long and it seemed very expensive for what was being served. There weren't even enough chairs for the people who paid all that money for dinner and some were actually standing to eat their food.

The Lighthouse Restaurant
Lovely atmosphere on the pier over the water. Service was excellent and the food was very very good but overpriced. In all fairness, however, most restaurants on Grand Cayman are very expensive. For a special occasion I would recommend The Lighthouse.

Excellent seafood and casual atmosphere at Over the Edge. We stopped here with no reservations on our way back to Morritt's after watching the sunset at Rum Point. Had a fabulous dinner over the water on the back deck and watched the staff feed the visiting fish and stingrays over the railing. Though still expensive (though not by Cayman standards)the food was worth it.

Feeding stingrays
A once-in-a-lifetime dive with the stingrays. Fed them squid and watched them "fly" throught the water. Very fun but very expensive (again, this is Grand Cayman) if you need rental gear. I think the total for two of us was around $200 for the dive. Of course, we HAD to have the video they make of the event, which was another $45. After feeding and playing with the rays we were led out to a shallow reef to look for a resident moray eel. We never found him but did see many fish and conch. All in all a fun dive and worth the price, but once is enough in my opinion.
