The Dells 4th of July fireworks were great. Since mostly local folks attend, the event was kept "hometown."

Quick Tips:

Rain soaked us for 3 days, so plan on some local things to do at the resort like swimming, board games, watching a movie in the activity center.

Best Way To Get Around:

Driving seems to be the only way to get around in the Dells. There is free parking in the Dells boat tour parking lot but I heard that the police will ticket there if you park too long. Public parking is available for 50 cents per hour.

Best Things Nearby:
Dells are 15 minutes away, close to state parks and many attractions, local Walmart for grocery shopping.

Best Things About the Resort:
Quiet and off the beaten path. Lots of things to do if it rains.

Resort Experience:
Our unit had a charcoal grill in the back and the back also faced woods. Wild raspberries grew at the edge and we actually picked and ate some. On rainy days they had games you can check out and a move in the community center. A decent outdoor pool and playground for the kids and also a great indoor pool and internet access in the lobby.

You could also check out fishing poles and the pond had stocked fish. This kids like this. Bicycles were available also.

We had to do a load of laundry and this was the first resort we stayed at that didn't have washers and drivers in the room. The laundry cost per load. Also, you have to take your bag of towels to the laundry exchange if you want fresh towels.

Echo Rock
Great view of Mirror Lake from the Echo Rock Hiking Trail; you can rent bicycles, boats, etc. at the boat landing. Very quiet on the trails and dedicated mountain bike trails.

Tumbled Rocks Trail
Huge state park. Many trails and two beaches. Hiked around the lake and I can say its a challenging hike. Took the lower tumbled rocks trail right at the lake edge from north beach to south beach. This was the easy hike. Decided to take the balanced rock trail, which is labeled only .4 of a mile, but they don't tell you is that you are constantly going up the peak. Incredible view of the lake from up there. The hiked back down to north beach via the East Bluff trail. Took about 4 hours with the entire family. Warning: balanced rock trail is a steep trail. I recommend taking this trail from south beach going up instead from the East Bluff Trail, which you have to come down the steep slope. We also did the Parfey's Glen trail, which takes you though a gorge and ends at a waterfall. It’s in the far east end of the park.

When we were there the water level was high and south beach was actually up the break water. We spent a lot of time in North beach, which still a beach for the kids to play on.

Great facilities, lots of trails.
