Santa Clara

A November 2003 trip to Santa Clara by kjrst9

Santa Clara can be done quickly when en route to another destination such as Trinidad or Cienfuegos. The two key points in Santa Clara are the Monumento a la Toma and the Memorial Che. It's also interesting to drive through town and see the daily lifestyle.

Attraction | "Memorial Che & Plaza de la Revolucion"

An important stop on your travels if you are interested in learning about the important historical figures in Cuba, and a great photo op, but again, not big on the excitement factor.

Attraction | "Monumento a la Toma del Tren Blindado"

This is a train that Che and the revolutionaries derailed. It was carrying Batista forces, and therefore represents an important victory for the revolutionaries.

Though not terribly exciting, an important piece of Cuban history. You can do this in under half an hour, and it's free.
