St. Martin - Fun in the Sun and Un-sun

A May 2004 trip to St. Maarten/St. Martin by LegalSeduction

Six nights of fun in St. Martin, "the friendliest island in the Caribbean". Despite being overcast much of the week, the island was very nice and worth visiting nonetheless. No sunburns either!

Attraction | "Butterfly Farm (La Ferme de Papaylons)"

This was an amazing morning. The guide was very knowledgeable about all of the butterflies and she didn't spare any detail. Even since coming home, I still recall many details about the life of the butterfly. It was very educational and is great for all ages. I didn't feel at all rushed and even though the farm looks nothing more than an aviary for butterflies, it was a great escape. There is a great variety of butterflies, and it was a great spot for unique souvenirs to bring home. Bring film! It's a good Kodak moment and great to build up some good luck. If a butterfly lands on you, you'll have good luck! :)

Butterfly Farm (La Ferme des Papillons)
Baie Orentiale St. Maarten, St. Maarten/St. Martin

Our resort offered an afternoon excursion on the Scoobi Doo 2. It involved snorkeling around the island Tintamarre and then a sunset cruise out on the water. Drinks and appetizers were included for about $50 per person, and this was a highlight of the trip.

The snorkeling was decent, but the sunset experience on the water was perfect. Once the captain put up the sail, it was very relaxing to lay out on the netting and enjoy the weather. I'd recommend this to anyone considering an afternoon boat excursion.
